Camping

During the summer months we run camps and holidays.

Junior members are taken for a weekend, usually to Felden Lodge which is a lovely site near Hemel Hempstead owned by The Boys' Brigade. While we are there the boys and girls sleep with a friend in small tents which they put up themselves.

They enjoy all sorts or sports and games at the camp site and go to nearby facilities for archery, swimming, abseiling, climbing, create stacking, cresta run, Quasar, zip-wire, etc.

We begin to train our Junior children in the skills of cooking while at camp, this comes in very useful when they are older and taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. The children cook their own breakfast at Junior camps.

Sometimes the Juniors camp for a weekend in the grounds of Wicksteed Park, which is a theme park in Kettering. Whilst there the children can enjoy all the amazing activities on offer for the whole weekend.

Our Company and Senior Section members are taken on a week holiday during the last week of July each year. We usually go to either Chichester, Skegness or Great Yarmouth.

The camp sites we use are top quality, with excellent facilities. Activities during the week will include swimming, boating, crazy golf, go karting, theme parks, sky trail, water zorbing, time on the beach, evenings out to shows, cinemas, stock car racing, firework displays, etc. etc. and visits to wildlife centres and other places of interest.

The young people are given a list of possible activities on the first day of the camp, and they then vote on what they want to do during the week. There's never a dull moment at our camps and because our own voluntary staff do all the organising, the cost can be kept down below similar holidays run by other bodies such as schools.

Our Senior members are encouraged to do the Duke of Edinburgh's Award with us. Because of our voluntary status we are able to offer this activity much cheaper than other providers such as schools.
